Using abdusting techniques and strategies, artists have opened the advertising panel and removed
the advertisement contained in the panel. After, they tied the panel with a chain closed with a lock.
The two keys alone to open the lock were inserted in the panel itself, in place of the advertisement.
The work so realized pursues a twofold objective: to remove as more publicity as possible from the
public space in which we live every day, preventing the reopening or the reuse; and to raise awareness
among the Istanbul citizens about the concessions to the advertising multinational companies
which, with speculative and depersonalizing reasoning, they aim to occupy as more space as possible
in the territory, modifying and increasingly conforming the landscape to other places already
devastated by capitalism.
Utilizzando tecniche e strategie dell’adbusting, gli artisti hanno aperto il pannello pubblicitario e
rimosso la pubblicità ivi contenuta. Dopo hanno legato il pannello con una catena chiusa con un
lucchetto. Le uniche due chiavi per aprire il lucchetto sono state inserite dentro il pannello stesso,
al posto della pubblicità. L’opera così realizzata persegue un duplice obiettivo: quello di rimuovere
più pubblicità possibile dallo spazio pubblico in cui viviamo quotidianamente, impedendo di poterlo
riaprire e riutilizzare, nonchè sensibilizzare i cittadini di Istanbul sulle concessioni alle multinazionali
della pubblicità, che con logiche speculative e massificanti mirano ad occupare più spazi possibili
sul territorio, modificando il paesaggio e omologandolo sempre più a quello di altri luoghi ormai devastati
dal capitalismo.
