Visual Art Exhibition by David Shillinglaw

[duhst] is a collection of work from David Shillinglaw’s current exploration of everyday narratives. Working on found pieces of wood, Shillinglaw’s work acts as a journal, mapping his routes and drawing on passing thoughts and ideas, using the environment as inspiration and using a collage of ideas and materials collected from contemporary life.

The works are often heavily layered showing evidence of change and a constant proliferation of ideas. Mixing chance and composition this body of work are closer to pages from Shillinglaw’s sketch books rather than his finished paintings, placing an emphasis on the process as much as the outcome.
