Friday evening saw us venture out to Hackney Wick for the preview of the 'Meanwhile Back in the Wick' exhibition. Presented by Prompt>Gallery_ who for this their debut show have resurrected what was Hackney Wick’s first exhibition space in Queens yard, on the 5th floor of Mother Studios.

Reinforcing the locations reputation for being one of the most exciting and creative artist communities in Europe, the gallery selected to feature the work of three Hackney Wick based artists, Aida, John Atherton and OKO. Below is a small selection of image we took at the preview, the large crowds in attendance made it difficult to get photographs of all the work and a return visit is definitely on the cards.

"Aida and John Atherton left the hustle and bustle of Brick Lane in 2008 in search of a more affordable and less saturated solace, to live and work. Since then, they have progressed individually, with Aida growing as a seminal printmaker and Atherton establishing his Wick Art Store business in the area as well as developing his creative practice."

"OKO uses the world as her canvas; she has been a permanent fixture in the street art revolution since 2005, traveling extensively, skating or painting her intricately drawn work. Dubbed a “National Treasure” in Croatia and working with clients such as Adidas, Prompt>Gallery_ are delighted that she has decided to call Hackney Wick her new home."
