Hookedblog have been back and forth to Walthamstow, London the last few days checking in on the the progress of the first Paint Your London event which was launched last weekend by local art based collective Wood Street Walls (Previously on Hookedblog).
Paint Your London is a local street art festival which is also part of the Mayor of London’s 11 day festival “Find Your London”, which celebrates London’s outdoor spaces. The collective are giving the Waltham Forest neighbourhood a fresh lick of paint throughout their month long event that will see them transform bland and dreary buildings across Walthamstow, Leytonstone, Leyton & Chingford into colourful works of art. They are achieving this with the help of some of the best local and international street artists, 20 in total who they have enlisted to help transform multiple locations over the duration of the event.
Hookedblog was lucky enough to be in the area when London artist Remi Rough began working on his contribution for the Paint Your London event. We last caught up briefly with Remi Rough a few weeks back in Marrakech, Morocco where he was taking part in this years Marrakech Biennale with the MB6 Street Art parallel project.
Since our last catch up with this busy artist he has released a new book titled #RoughSketches with Unicorn Press which is available online directly from the publishers via the Unicorn Press website. He has painted two additional murals in South London, collaborated with Scream Creations for the release of 'Motivational Therapy' a hand made rug featuring one of his designs and on top of all of that he is co-curating the Exceptional exhibition also with Scream Gallery opening early next month. Paint Your London Interactive Map and Mural Schedule

Wood Street Walls have created an interactive map with MapJam below and a schedule with the full line up of artist taking part in the Paint Your London event, allowing residents and visitors the chance to pop along and watch the artworks being created in person. It also provides a selection of local highlights close to each of the murals with suggestions on where to Eat, Drink and Visit

Remi Rough stood in front of his finished Paint Your London Mural which is located just off Wood Street on the corner of Brandon Road. The mural is a short five minute walk from the Wood Street Station.
