Penguin Street Art Series of Books Launch Event

Penguin Street Art Series

Hookedblog hit the Southbank in London over the sunny weekend to catch up with What Collective crew members 45RPM and Oath who along with Ventsa were creating pieces of art inspired by Penguin's new literary series outside Foyles Southbank store.

For the Penguin Street Art Series ten world-renowned street artists were asked to create distinct new covers for contemporary classics, producing a bespoke edition set of contemporary fiction with an urban edge that is a must for any bookworm or streetart lovers. Books in the series include Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Jonathan Coe's What a Carve up!, Nick Hornby's How to be Good and William Boyd's Armadillo. The ten artists who were invited to create the covers included 45RPM, Sickboy, ROA, ESPO, The Yok, DAIN, Barn, Agostino, Dr Henry Jekyll and Mittenimwald.

Some of the alphabet book covers painted during the event, we are especially loving the spray painting Penguin's painted by 45RPM!
