It's a Stick-Up Book Review
It's a Stick-Up
book is the latest book release from Ollystudios and publishers Laurence King. Ollystudios are a London based creative studio who have previously designed artists monographs for a number of Lazarides Gallery artists such as Paul Insect, JR, David Choe and Vhils. Ollystudio have also authored and designed The Street Art Stencil Book
and Stencil Republic
both also released with Laurence King.
So it's no surprise that this new publication has been beautifully designed by Ollystudios, from the Paul Insect baby head stickers stuck on the front cover to the oversized dimensions of the book, the lovely stock it's been printed on as well as the layout design for the spreads makes for a great book that stands out over some other recent releases. So whats inside the book well content wise they showcases the work of 20 street artists from across the globe who work predominantly with paste and posters, artists such as Paul Insect, WK Interact, A.ce, Dain, Rae, Kid Acne, EMA, Dale Grimshaw and Pablo Delgado to name a few.
Writer Margherita Dessanay has written the books introduction as well as profiles for each of the artists in which we get to read about their experiences of working in the street as well as some of their working processes. Each artist profile is also accompanied by a slection of photography showing their works in the streets of cities across the globe.
The book comes complete with 20 fold out posters / paste up's, one from each featured artist which you can choose to tear out if you wish and try your hand at pasting some work up yourself ( a paste recipe is also included in the book) or you might chose to frame up some of the posters and redecorate your walls inside. The fold-out pages in the book are all perforated so they can easily be removed. Some of the paste-ups such as the Kid Acne Stabby Woman has been laser cut so they can be popped out of the book. But we like the idea of cutting out the included Pablo Delgado miniature images on his fold-out poster and pasting them around our apartment!
The It's a Stick-Up: 20 Real Wheat Paste-Ups book is currently on sale online here on Amazon
and is another welcome addition to the Hookedblog bookshelf and walls!
