Exhibitions
It would appear that the autumn/winter season of exhibitions has kicked off again with some fantastic shows currently running such as Barry McGee at Modern Art, Graffiti Legends at the Outside Institute and Geoff McFetridge at the Kemistry Gallery.
This week will see not one but 3 new exhibitions opening in central London. As mentioned already on this blog the Wear it with Pride show opens to the public on Friday the 30th at Phonica Records on Poland Street.
Also opening this week is a show from ELK with a show featuring 20 years of unseen photographs. This show is only set to run for 2 or 3 days so you gotta be quick to catch it at a secret location in Soho.
The other big show of the week sees AL MURPHY, supported by the POA installation programme under 55DSL, creating a unique exhibition based around the theme Rescue’ at the 55DSL Newburgh Street store. On September 29th, Al will use the theme RESCUE to transform the 55DSL store into a safe haven’.
The entire exhibition will be executed in screen-print.
After graduating from the Liverpool School of Art in 1999 Al Murphy settled in London where he established himself as an illustrator. A one time collaborator with Birmingham based creative Beat 13, Al has taken part in exhibitions in Sydney, Berlin's File Sharing Gallery, Birmingham's Custard Factory, London'’s Horse Hospital, LA'’s Lab 101 (with the Scrawl collective) and St Lukes’ with the V Collective (featuring artists from, amongst others, New, Peepshow, and Big Active). Currently on the books with the Pocko agency (www.pocko.com), Murphy Kid splits his time between illustrating and song writing with his band Murphy Kid and the Bad Luck Band (www.murphykid.com).
Al Murphy's’ exhibition will be open to the public on the 30th of September and run until November.
