For those of you in London this evening the 3rd November, you are spoilt for choice, with a list longer than my arm of exhibition openings tonight. Evan Hecox at Stolen Space, Faile at Lazarides, Kelsey Brookes at The Outsiders, Henrik Jacob at the Signal Gallery, Lava Collective will be at the Rag Factory with a group show and Beach London will be show illustrations from Carl Partridge. We will be checking all these shows at some point over the weekend, but the only place we plan to be this evening is at Sickboy's second major London solo show HEAVEN & EARTH at The Truman Brewery on Dray Walk.
Some of you might remember his impressive first London show 'Stay Free' way back in 2008 in the vast Victorian tram shed on Rivington Street. From what we have read and seen, this new exhibition is set to top the first!! Heaven and Earth is set to feature a whole body of new work 'Inspired by semiotics and symbolism, Renaissance paintings and the surreal landscape workings of artists like Hieronymus Bosch, Sickboy confesses all in this show, with meticulously-detailed paintings containing deeply personal narratives alongside his surrealist depictions of the world."
Sickboy will also present four major installations at the show, one of which includes a walk-in confessional booth! Another and one that we are looking forward to, will see Sickboy collaborate with D*Face, Eine, Anthony Lister, Paul Insect, Vhils, Conor Harrington, Xenz, Word to Mother, Will Barras, Eelus, Mudwig and Hush! Not much details on this so it will be interesting to see what they have produced together.
The exhibition will run for three days only and is definitely a show you should not miss.
