Shepard Fairey London Mural No.3

Shepard Fairey

In case you hadn't noticed American artist Shepard Fairey rolled into town last week with the Obey posse and has been hitting up a number of spots around East London ahead of his second major London exhibition Sound And Vision at Stolen Space Gallery.

We have already featured the 'Shoplifters Welcome' mural on Ebor Street which Shepard and his team completed last week. A second piece went up in the Old Truman Brewery and we caught up the artist and his team over the weekend as they begun work on the third mural on Bateman's Row off Shoreditch High Street.

It's been five years since Shepard Fairey's last London show 'Nineteeneightyfouria' also at Stolen Space and we expect Sound and Vision will be as equally epic. The show is set to feature a range of new works including mixed media paintings on canvas, works on paper, retired stencils collages, rubylith cuts, and as well as serigraphs on wood, metal and paper. Music is also set to feature heavily in the show, the title of the exhibition is taken from a David Bowie song of the same name, producer and DJ, Z-Trip hask been tasked with creating a soundtrack that 'embodies the spirit of the show' and Shepard shared with us at the weekend that he has brought 1000 records from his personal collection which we believe will be incorporated into a record shop style installation complete with customised vintage turntables to enable viewer listening.

Sound and Vision opens tomorrow evening 18th October from 7pm and we will be joining the 1200+ people who are expected to attend the opening party. If you are planning on going tomorrow evening RSVP'ing is a must [email protected] . We will see ye all down there.
