Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada at Mathgoth, Paris

During our recent visit to Paris we were fortunate enough to visit Cuban-American artist Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada's current show 'Texture Urbaine' at Mathgoth Galerie in the 13th arrondissement on show until the 9th November.

It has been several years since we were last in Paris and this was our first to Mathgoth Galerie's beautiful gallery space filled with natural light, which made for the perfect setting for Jorge's stunning new body of work produced for the show. Below are a selection of images we captures at the space.

We caught up with Jorge back in September in Tudela, Spain for the Avant-Garde Urbano festival (covered here) which the artist curated. In between curating this festival and preparing a new body of work for the 'Texture Urbaine' exhibition which opened shortly after the festival, Jorge somehow found time to create the UK and Ireland's largest land art portrait in Belfast, Ireland.
The amazing 11-acre land art portrait of a young girl making a wish was created as part of this year's Ulster Bank Belfast International Festival at Queen's. The WISH portrait was created with 30,000 wooden stakes, 2,000 tonnes of soil, and 2,000 tonnes of sand. Jorge and the WISH team had just four weeks to complete one of the largest realistic portraits the world has ever seen. Watch the short WISH film below.
