It's A Stick Up Book 'The Special Editions'

It's A Stick Up

Back in June of this year Hookedblog reviewed (covered here) the latest book release from Ollystudios and publishers Laurence King titled It's a Stick-Up: 20 Real Wheat Paste-Ups from the World's Greatest Street Artists. The beautifully designed book showcases the work of 20 street artists from across the globe who work predominantly with wheat paste and posters and included artists such as Paul Insect, A.ce, Dale Grimshaw, HIN, Pablo Delgado, WK Interact, Dain, Rae, Kid Acne and EMA to name a few.

For the Special Editions, Ollystudios have invited a number of the artists featured in the book to create bespoke artwork covers on special blank white covered version of the book which will then be packaged in specially designed screen printed boxes. We caught up with Ollystudio's during the week in their East London space for a sneak peak of some of these Special Edition books. To be honest some of the artist have put so much work into these so called special editions they are more like original pieces of work and we imagine many of these will end up in frames hanging on walls. The artists were each sent out number of copies of the book to customise and the results from what we saw were pretty impressive. The first of two planned sale nights is taking place at the Signal Gallery in East London on the 12th September and will feature bespoke covers from Paul Insect, Dale Grimshaw, A.ce, Hin and Pablo Delgado with prices ranging from £110 unto £280. We have posted a few images of some of the covers that will be for sale, but suggest you get yourselves over to Signal Gallery to see the entire collection.

Hin's custom books feature some of the controversial paste-up characters that have recently appeared on the streets (covered here) along with hand drawn and painted elements.

A.ce

For his editions London street artist A.ce has hand screen printed the books himself in his East London studio featuring some of his signature imagery in multiple pastel colour ways.

Pablo Delgado

Mexican artist Pablo Delgado has not only worked on the covers but has produced what are almost like landscapes for his miniature characters by ripping into the books themselves and tearing out sections to reveal the colourful pages inside the books to create some stunning one- off pieces of work!

For his custom editions, Paul Insect has really gone to town, not only do the covers feature these fun characters which we love, who have made an appearance on the streets in the last few months (covered here) but he has tagged up and doodled on a number of the pages within the books making each one very different and unique.

It's A Stick Up Book

We are looking forward to seeing all the editions on display in one space on the 12th September at Signal Gallery and imagine they are all gonna get snapped up really quick so we suggest if you are interested to get over to the gallery early, doors open at 6pm.
