American street artist Elle based out of Brooklyn was in London recently on a quick visit before heading off to Cuba. She was one of a number of artists visiting the city ahead of the exhibition XX: A Moment in Time, a group exhibition currently taking place at the Saatchi Gallery.
Taking over the Prints & Originals Gallery space at Saatchi Gallery, the show has been curated by Olly Walker with support from Yasha Young of Urban Nation Berlin and consists of works from a selection of emerging and established female street and urban artists from around the globe, many of whom are exhibiting in the UK for the first time.
The artists featured in the exhibition include Aiko (Japan/USA)(Previously on Hookedblog), Alice Pasquini (Italy)(Previously on Hookedblog), Caratoes (Belgium/Hong Kong), Crajes (Spain), Elle (USA), Faith 47 (South Africa)(Previously on Hookedblog), Handiedan (Netherlands), Hera (Germany), Hueman (USA), Lora Zombie (Russia), Madamoiselle Maurice (France), Marina Zumi (Argentina), Martha Cooper (USA), Mimi S (Germany), Miss Van (France)(Previously on Hookedblog), Olek (Poland)(Previously on Hookedblog), Sandra Chevrier (Canada), Vexta (Australia) and Zabou (France).
Elle takes a break from painting, happy to pose for a photograph after years of anonymity.
The second of Elle's two murals painted on this visit, this one is located on Hanbury Street, London.
This is not Elle's first visit to London and we have previous seen a variety of work and styles from her on the streets of East London. Her last visit saw her install a series of paste-ups and stickers across the city, some of which are still up along Brick Lane. She also painted a mural at the end of Hanbury Street, close to where Atlantis Art shop was before their recent move. On this recent visit Elle painted the same wall on Hanbury Street pictured above, giving it a refresh with a new piece.
The two pieces featured in this post can be seen in East London, some of Elle's gallery work for the XX: A Moment in Time are on view in West London. The exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery is open until 6th March 2016, be sure to stop by and check out the collection of works.
