DRAN — Public Execution Exhibition in Soho, London

Hookedblog stopped into central London late last week to visit the Public Execution exhibition at the Lights of Soho gallery in Brewer Street, Soho. Hosted by Pictures On Walls and featuring the work of Toulouse's master draftsman Dran, Public Execution sees the artist return to London five years after his last solo show in which he took over a floor of the Banksy ‘Marks and Stencils’ exhibition in Soho.

A last minute announcement of the show on the Pictures On Walls (POW) website still saw huge crowds turn up on the opening night for what POW promised "to be a 'live' masterclass in 'spontaneous creativity' happening in 'real time'. Fans of the artist queued on the opening night only to be presented with gallery walls filled with empty spray painted frames. Over the three weeks period the show will run for, Dran will be creating his art show from scratch, using the space as a studio and creating new artworks each day in full public view. Upon completion of all the work the exhibition will close immediately on the 21st February.

On our visit the space was starting to take show with a number of artworks beginning to appear on the walls. If you find yourself in the Soho area be sure to stop by into the space and see Dran at work, you are almost certain to see something new. Below are a selection from our trip, check back with us some for updates are the show progresses and be sure to mark the 21st February in your calander and see the finished show.
